It was seen that the women who drank 6 additional cups of water apart from the recommended quantity have shown a reduced risk of urinary tract infection by half. Also, the need of antibiotics among these individuals was reduced by half. Women are more likely to suffer from UTI compared to men. Women’s have shorter urethra due to which the infections can easily travel from rectum to vagina and then pass through the bladder.
It is recommended that a large amount of water should be consumed by an individual as it keeps away bacteria from clinging around the bladder as well it can lower down the concentration of bacterial infection. Hence a large amount of fluid consumption can have greater benefits as it can lower down the risk of urinary tract infection.

On an average 1-2 liter of water should be consumed during every meal apart from other fluids.
